2018April-Wolf3449-3Yuko Hata was born and raised in Tokyo, Japan. Hata started rhythmic gymnastics at age 10 and began dance at 15 years old. She graduated from the Japan Women’s College of Physical Education where she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Modern Dance. After graduation, she joined the Shiki Theatre Company in Tokyo, Japan where she performed in over 300 musicals, including a production of The Lion King from 2003 to 2006. In 2006, she began training aerial tissu in Japan and moved to San Francisco to further pursue aerial tissu in 2009. Soon after graduating from San Francisco Circus Center, she performed and choreographed her first aerial tissu solo as a freelance aerialist. She refocused on dance in 2010. In 2011, she worked with Labayen Dance SF and joined Copious Dance Theater in 2013. She began her contortion training in 2013 under Serchmaa Byamba. Since July 2016, Hata’s performed with Earth Circus Production and Velocity Circus as a contortionist and worked with Capacitor, a dance, cirque and sculpture company.
